Opens chromatogram files from Applied Biosystems and Amersham MegaBace DNA sequencers.
Opens SCF format chromatogram files created by ALF, Li-Cor, Visible Genetics OpenGene, Beckman CEQ 2000XL and CEQ 8000, and other sequencers.
View Genescan genotype files.
Save in SCF or Applied Biosystems format.
Prints chromatogram with options to zoom or fit to one page.
Exports sequences in plaint text, formatted with base numbering, FASTA, EMBL, GenBank or GCG formats.
Copy the sequence to the clipboard in plain text or FASTA format for pasting into other applications.
Export sequences from batches of chromatogram files, with automatic removal of vector sequence.

Search for sequences by exact matching or optimal alignment.

Click here to download Chromas 2.33 (267kb). Windows 95/NT4.0 or higher is required. Run the installer and enter the name of the directory you wish to extract Chromas to, or accept the default. Windows Vista users may need to right-click the installer and check "Run this program as an administrator" under Properties, Compatibility.

Version 2.33 fixes a bug in editing of sequences which contain no confidence data.

Registered users may upgrade to version 2.33 for free. Windows NT users may need to enter their registration details again if Chromas is not installed in the same folder as the previous version. Alternatively, the registration details may be transferred by copying "chromas.ini" from the old folder to the new one.

Chromas 2.33 is shareware. The unregistered version is fully functional for a period of 60 days, after which saving, exporting and printing will be disabled unless the program is registered. The registration fee is US$69 for a single user. Chromas can be registered by purchase order or online through share-it.
